The Ultimate Guide To The Street Tag QR Relay Baton Activity

The Street Tag QR Relay Baton is a physical baton (or item branded with a QR code) that will be passed around to individuals or families in your school or community. Each baton will be loaded with 5000 points for each user. To earn the 5000 points, the user must first scan the baton with the Street Tag app using the app's camera function. The user must then pass the baton on to another user, who must also scan the baton before the first user receives their points. This process will continue for a month, with users passing the baton and scanning it to unlock their points.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Street Tag QR Relay Baton Activity

Q: Does it need to be the team captain that requests the baton or can any member of the team do so?

Ans: Any member of the team can do so

Q: How long does a relay run for before team members can get points for scanning the baton again?

Ans: The relay will run for a month, and a team member can only scan the baton once

Q: Will other tags still be available to collect when the relay is on?

Yes, all other tags will still be available to collect in addition to the relay experience.

Q: Do I need to walk anywhere with the baton before passing it on?

Ans: Users are not required to walk anywhere before passing it on. It's simply for the joy of the collective participation of the school, children, parents, school staff, and the community.

Q: I don't understand how the baton passing will work. Do the parents/users take it away with them, or does it stay in a school or community centre?

Ans: Your school can be as creative as you want with the relay baton. Some parents can take it home, while others can pass it around on the school premises to scan it with their smartphones. You can have it ready and available for parents at after-school clubs, breakfast clubs, morning school runs, after-school runs at the school gate or reception, etc.

Q: Is it for one person to keep it the whole day?

Ans: This depends on your school team if they want to give it to someone to take home, scan it and pass it to another team member the next day. We encourage schools to be creative with how they pass the QR relay baton around. However, keep in mind that the Street Tag QR Relay activity is only for a month, so you need to maximise your chances of stacking up the most points and winning prizes for your school. And you can do this by getting all your team members and possibly onboarding new members to quickly scan and pass the Baton to as many others as possible within the QR Relay month.

Q: Do you pass it on to people in the day?

Ans: Yes, we advise that you pass it on to more people in a day as you possibly can to increase the chances of your school winning prizes at the end of the season. You can also use this opportunity to convince new members to sign up and join your school team, so they can scan the QR relay baton and help get more points for your school team.

Q: How long do they keep it before passing it on?

Ans: As soon as someone is done scanning the QR Relay Baton, they can pass it on to the next team member and the cycle continues for the duration of the QR relay month.

Q: Does it go to a new set of people the next day or the same people?

Ans: It should go to a new set of people every day. An individual can only scan the QR Relay Baton once. If a team member has scanned the QR Relay Baton for the school, they can't scan it again, so always pass the Baton to people who haven't scanned it already. And if you've exhausted everyone in the school team, you can recruit more people to sign up on Street Tag and join the school team to help scan the Baton and help your school win prizes.

Q: Is it hourly like tagging, or as often as you can pass it?

Ans: It's as often as you can pass it.
