What is a Poly Tag?

Poly Tags are virtual real estate assets (such as House, Hotel, Playground etc) that are experienced in Augmented Reality (AR) through the Street Tag app. They can be bought using the Street Tag currency called STcoins.

The virtual assets are powered by the physical activities of the Street Tag communities. This means if you own a Poly Tag, the value of your Poly Tag increases automatically after every 250 interactions (this includes your scans and other users' scans/interactions on the Poly Tag which you own).

Anyone can scan any Poly Tags.

Poly Tags weigh more in  STcoins.

You earn 5 STcoins dividends every time others interact with your Poly Tag, however, these 5 STcoins do not go to your live leaderboard score, it goes to your STcoins wallet.

Users can own up to a maximum of five Poly Tags at a time. This limit ensures that the market for Poly Tags remains fair and accessible to all users.

The value of a Poly Tag increases as it is used more frequently. After every 250 scans on a Poly Tag, the tag's value increases by 10,000 STcoins. This encourages users to actively visit their Poly Tags, making them more valuable over time.

Users can sell their Poly Tags through the "My Poly Tag" feature.

When a user puts a Poly Tag up for sale, it is displayed in the Poly Tag Market for all to see. This makes it easy for buyers to find the Poly Tags they need and for sellers to reach a wide audience.

Users can only resell a Poly Tag after three days from their purchase. This restriction prevents users from buying and immediately reselling Poly Tags for a quick gain, which could disrupt the market.

When a user successfully sells a Poly Tag, they receive 3000 bonus points that go straight to their live leaderboard score. This rewards active participation in the Poly Tag network and helps to maintain a healthy market for Poly Tags.

There is no list of Poly Tags, you discover where they are from outdoor activities on the app's map screen just like the other virtual tags.

The Poly Tags are scarce assets, this means not everyone can own one. However, you can request a Poly Tag assuming there aren't any nearby you already. If you already have Poly Tags around you, there is a high chance that we can't add another as there are limits to how many we place in the vicinity for technical reasons. To have a Poly Tag added nearby at your requested location after you've considered the above, please send us your postcode to look at adding some Poly Tags nearby for you to purchase using your Street Tag points, if there aren't existing Poly Tags nearby your route already.  

In addition, there are other reasons why we may not wish to add more Poly Tags in an area eg. Poly Tags are not great for cyclists as they cannot be scanned in background mode by cyclists. This is however a caveat to be mindful of, it does not mean we cannot add the Poly Tag on some occasions.

How does it work?

To enjoy the Poly Tag experience, you will need to own a Poly Tag. You can own a maximum of 5 Poly Tags currently - your first Poly Tag can be purchased using your STcoins from the "Poly Tag Market" in the app menu.

Once you own a Poly Tag, you will need to keep scanning and have other people scan it to increase its value. To scan, you will need to walk within a 40-metre radius (max) of the Poly Tag, and you will be able to trigger the Augmented Reality mode to view the Poly Tag right through your phone camera lens just like magic.

All Poly Tags come with at least a default 200 points reward when you or other taggers scan the Poly Tag. (we plan to add more value layers to this process in the nearest future).

The current version of the Poly Tag feature reflects the value of your Poly Tag in STcoins, which you will be able to withdraw/ cash-out once you sell your Poly Tag in the Poly Tag market.

e.g. the default points on the Poly Tags are a minimum of 200 points, you will be able to increase this up to a maximum of 500 points.

PLEASE NOTE - When a newly requested Poly Tag is created, it is not assigned to you, and it is not guaranteed that you will be able to purchase it. You have to be quick to purchase it as soon as you receive a reply that a Poly Tag has been added nearby. Typically Poly Tags get snapped up often in less than 30 minutes and sometimes less than 5 minutes.

Please note that you are not entitled to a Poly Tag on Street Tag. Poly Tags are strictly limited and scarce assets by design.

What are the benefits of owning Poly Tags?

Owners of Poly Tags earn reward revenue of 5 coins each time that other taggers/families scan your owned Poly Tag. The 5 coins revenue on your Poly Tag does not reflect on your leaderboard score, it goes into your points wallet.
